Sinfire

One of Kunrai's most precious resources is sinfire, a mineral found in deposits on and beneath outcroppings within the ocean. In its raw form, sinfire is metallic red with streaks of luminous white and gold.   When refined, sinfire produces two valuable substances and a third waste product.   Sinfire resin is a powerful narcotic that is burned and its fumes inhaled. This drug is highly addictive, but is in common use amongst miners all the same.   Radiant crystals are also refined from the sinfire. Crystals are only refined in the hours immediately after sunrise, though, giving time for them to be delivered to customers before the following dawn. Crystals that don't have buyers are reprocessed overnight into radiant oil, which is used to power items of radiant technology.   Finally, refining sinfire produces a highly toxic waste product known as glow dust. This foul, fine powder has been known to cause the withering illness in areas where it builds up, and in rare cases mild exposure via breathing it in from the sea breeze has also inflicted diseases.   Some scholars believe that sinfire deposits are most often found along geomantic dragon lines of power.
