Adanipians
Adanipians is a tiny ethnic group spanning two towns (Kimmip and Avol), which are located in the country of Kenia. It is close to Holla's border. It's an ethnicity which only exists on the continent of Floowo.
They descend from ancient settlers who came there by boat from the neighboring continent of Hebbo, along with many more modern Flooian ethnic groups/nationalities. Most of these settlers were chased-off Carians (in-universe car-people), leading to the strongly Carian racial makeup.
It is 78% Carian, the rest of the population human. Distinctive ethnic genetic features include pickup trucks (50% of Adanipian Carians), various greens, grays, white, and black base colorings, and dark eyes for Carians. Mental disabilities are very common for both Carian and human members. For humans, broader body types (26% of the humans share that body type), tan skin of both light, medium, and dark types, and green almond or hooded eyes are very common.
Common personality traits include loyality, closeness, family-oriented traits, treating children very well almost to the point of spoiling, and outspokenness about treating family members badly.
Social standards are very interesting to outsiders. They place huge emphasis on marriage, so much so that out-of-wedlock children/premarital sex is one of the most taboo things you can do. Dating is often seen as a test for what you like and not physically intense. As for modesty norms, humans are not very strict and often follow surrounding clothing norms. Carians, as sentient vehicles, could care less. 'As long as the humans cover up the important parts', they say. Which for them means genitals, most of the butt, and majority of the breasts. Alcohol is very much looked down upon (it kills Carians), so therefore most humans do not drink at all. Older humans do smoke a decent amount, although it's a dying habit. If someone is found abusing their romantic partner, elderly parents, younger members of their family, especially their own children, they are socially excluded from the community and often arrested if the abuse is severe (SA, physical violence, extreme verbal, emotional abuse, severe neglect of all types). Because of this, most abusers never let it show and threaten victims.
Outsiders' view of them is being seen as "lazy", but this is a perception borne from them being home a lot. Certain outsider groups see them as "annoying" for harping on abuse. Adanipians/children descended from one are the leading activists in anti-abuse groups.
Their accents are often quiet and they don't talk casually much to outsiders. It is not a very strong accent, but it has almost a flowy quality for both males and females. They roll their Rs. They had a unique language at one point, but it was already a dying language. They now speak Jener, Kenia's official language, although this doesn't stop their own unique vocabulary.
A unique quirk is that a lot of the humans in the community buy pickup trucks or jeep-like vehicles to "fit in". They are also one of the few Flooian ethnicities which fully accept Carians.
Because of their positive/neutral traits, some negatives have come about. For example, strong family focus often leads to overprotectiveness, especially of minors and very young adults. They may stifle them, leading to possibly-dangerous or reckless behavior in young adults. They are suspicious of outsiders, mostly due to poor outsider treatment and insular communities, although this never turns to violence. Humans push hard for degrees, and because most of the population is neurodiverse and colleges were designed for neurotypicals, it feels unachievable for some people. Certain neurodiverse people may be stifled well into mid-adulthood if their mental limits are are very strong. Sometimes Adanipians don't know how to handle abuse in other places, leading to conflict. Males and females alike often feel pressured to have children, both Carian and human, which can cause self-consciousness, poor readiness, hiding from society, situations where the wrong people end up becoming parents and hiding abuse. Skinny women and bigger men often struggle with body issues, but they often get support for this from family. Carians feel left out of higher education, and human Adanipians, as a result, feel like they can't do anything to change that, because it is still illegal to accept Carians.
Carian beauty standards in those two towns are extremely simple. Kindness, loyalty, and focused around family are desireable traits. Genetic ones are limited to merely having two powers.
Human beauty standards often mimick local norms. Again, loyalty, family focus, being hardworking, and romantic are desireable traits. If a human hears their date has a degree, they also get very excited. Physical standards for men include paler tans, lean bodies, and a little bit of muscle. For women, it's fuller bodies, wavy/curly hair, and having some visible leg muscle.
Reasons behind Carian standards is because powers only occur in them and it's seen as unique. Being seen as dependable is incredibly important, especially for female Carians, who'd rather not raise children who discover often dangerous powers borderline singlehandedly.
Behind human standards for personality is because loyal, hardworking, and romantic people are the best for working with, dealing with, and producing kids. Degrees mean the person is smart, worked to get it, and can provide, either male or female. For physical norms, paler skin for men is just one of those things that came from earlier standards and stuck around. Lean bodies and muscle signals the man is a worker. Women's standards including fuller bodies shows that they can support pregnancy- at least outwardly. Wavy/curly hair is just seen as cute. Leg muscle shows she's willing to work for her and her family's needs.
They are looked down upon by many Kenians because of their mainly Carian population, although not treated violently. In other towns and cities, they are given unequal opportunities in other places, unequal pay (Especially Carians), and socially dismissed. They often form their own little communities if they move. This often dillutes their very common base traits, as Carians intermarry to other groups a lot, cares even more about human clothing standards than their partner's appearance, and the humans don't care what their partners look like.
