Narahidaka, Capital city.

The Tadashi clan

As the descendants of Akira Tadashi, the Tadashi clan is very prideful. It is said the fruit of the Tadashi clan is one of two kinds; the pathetic and weak, or the Strong and stoic. In recent years the Tadashi clan has been bearing much less of the strong. In recent years people have started to resent the fact that their shogun isn't leading by example. For the first time ever a shogun isn't going to war, because of this fact many speculate that he may be dethroned. For as much people wish ill upon the Tadashi clan, if the shogun were to die it would leave an enormous power vacuum that would tear the socioeconomic state of the land apart.

The Population

The population of Narahidaka is very homogeneous, meaning mostly made up of one race/peoples. These people are humans, most due to the fact the only the wealthiest of people can afford to live here. This is not to say there are no elves or dwarves the reside in the city, but don't expect to see any Goblinkin or  Oni within the city walls.

The Government

The Government in Narahidaka is the gold-standard for the Government in every other city. The city is ruled by the shogun: Akira VII. Akira VII became the shogun through birth, and is widely disliked as he rules more as a placeholder, doing nothing, rather than a real Shogun. The city streets are patrolled by the guard throughout the day, thus there is almost zero crime. Any criminals found within the city are to face “justice”. For example a thief's hands would be cut off, or a murderer would be buried alive along with a slaves dead body.

The Military

Niharika's military ranks are unlike most of Kuhaku’s. The military has access to large amounts of highly advanced weaponry like flintlock pistols and rifles, along with cannonry. While they have access to advanced technology they also have access to ancient magic and monsters. Many speculate that somewhere a Tarasque is being held and trained to kill any invaders or problems that may come along. A basic soldier would usually be armed with either a Odachi, Katana, spear, or flintlock rifle for a primary weapon, and either a wakizashi, or flintlock pistol as a secondary weapon.

Commerce

While Narahidaka is the most wealthy city in Kuhaku, it doesn't make its money itself. Narahidaka actually makes all of its money through taxing other cities. While it may seem odd that one country could have so much control over a world that it doesn't need to make its own income, but it does this through supreme military control. Recently some citizens of Kuhaku have started revolting and thus Akira VII has increased the military presence in other cities to keep more control of them.

Organizations/Religions

Most people in the city worship Amaterasu the goddess of the sun and creation. In the center of the city sits a temple dedicated to her. Other religions are worshipped but none have temples or churches dedicated to them within the city walls. No other Guilds or organizations are allowed to operate within the city by decree of the shogun himself.

Traditions
  • Every year the people gather in the town square to celebrate the day the city was founded By Akira the first Shogun. The town flocks to the city center and celebrates with a grand performance of the slaying of the dragon Ka-Riu.
  • On The shoguns birthday every citizen is required to bring the shogun a present.  The gifts often range from Grain and livestock, to pistols and statues.
  • The moment the moon is reborn into the sun is believed to be the moment when Akira arrived on the island. The town celebrates with a festival of light ending with the Chinese lanterns.
  • It is illegal to hunt around the city walls. This is because all the game is reserved for the shogun for his grand hunts.
