Tekaryalia

An isolationist nation inhabiting the forested Peresali peninsula in north eastern Ti Nga, Tekaryalia is an elven state built around the practice of Animism. It is ruled by the Masked Council: a group of elders, each wearing the mask of one of the nation's totem spirits. Tekaryalian culture is very communal and has little in the way of hierarchy (each community has a council of elders that reports to the regional council of elders who report to the Masked Council; very simple compared to the labyrinthine bureaucracy of Vuo Ra or the feudal power struggles of Soryakhampai and Tsekkani). All citizens study Animist techniques from childhood. At puberty, each citizen goes on a vision quest and returns with a totem animal which they can shapeshift into from that day forward. Tekaryalia has fought several wars with Vuo Ra in the past (all of which began with attempts by Vuo Ra to conquer or at least weaken the nation).
