Neruaan
Neruaan is the language of the elves of Nerua. While it is a daughter of Old Tongue, it has undergone substantial changes in its morphology.
History
The language developed in the fertile Nerua region, which saw an influx of a wide variety of people over the first millennia of the Age of Law as a result of its comparative opulence. By the time widespread migration began, substantial linguistic drift had occurred meaning that each group added a new language to the region. When the elves of Eleyha unified the region, the result was the fusion of the languages into Neruaan over the course of the next few centuries. The root and pattern morphology of the language is thought to have arisen as a result of the analogizing etymologically distinct words that had converged phonologically in the different languages such as athzan ("hate" from Old Tongue thåzan "hatred") with mothzan ("hated" from Old Tongue mosdhan "awful") and uthzan ("incite, rile up" originally meaning "persuade" > huthåsvan "persuade him" > Old Tongue huthås "persuade").Remove these ads.
