Na'ath
During the Age of Law, Ur shaped An during gestation into a new being. During labor, Kara would guide a spirit of the dead into that An to give it Na. After the Schism and the Year of Dark Sun, Kara lost the ability to locate births without the Call to Kara. As a result, many births occurred without the installation of a spirit in the child. The resulting children were variously known as Anathema (in Korsamu worshiping communities), deathborn, empty, soul-less, or Na'ath.
Whatever the name, these beings look like their parent species, but act differently. Na'ath are known for being emotionally distant. Given the lack of emotional intensity (they have emotions, but their feelings don't carry the same weight as they would for other normal beings), many Na'ath become extremely analytical. Others prefer to live in the moment. All feel a sense of emptiness as though some part of them is missing.
Many communities fear Na'ath. In part this is due to common prejudices against "the other." It is also due to the fact that the soul-less are extremely vulnerable to possession by spirits, and in an age of roving spirits, this is a dangerous weakness to have.
