Helesti Isles

These boggy, rain drenched islands off the north-western coast of Thovan are home to the Helesti, a loose confederation of matriarchal elven clans, united in little save language and culture. Kala is the patron goddess of the Helesti, and each clan is ruled by a witch (always female). The clans regularly war with each other and send out ships to raid neighboring civilizations.   While technically an Iron Age civilization, the Helesti have no source of metal in their islands and nothing of value to offer any trading partners. As such, any metal weapons they have come from spoils looted during their raids on foreign lands. They compensate for their lack of technology with liberal use of witchcraft. Their raiders inevitably strike at night, when Kala is in the sky, to allow their witches' potions to take their full effect.
