Drakai
The drakai are humanoid dragonkin. They are one of the dominant species of the Innerworld where they glide effortlessly along the ever present thermal currents. They are rare in the Overworld, having a substantial presence only in Krara̰ng.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Drakai are a dragonoid variety on the humanoid shape. They are bipedal, two armed beings with a set of semi-functional wings which are independent of the arms. They are covered in a coat of supple scales that provide a degree of protection to offset the weakness of their hollow bones. They are agile creatures, and their light bodies allow them to glide on their wings, which they can maintain as long as the air currents allow. They are generally unable to sustain true flight for more than a few second, however, limiting their aerial mobility.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Drakai, like other types of dragon, are carnivores and cannot digest plant matter. The Empire of Scale has extensive herding operations to keep its dragonkin satiated.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The eyes of the Drakai are set in front of their head giving them binocular vision. Their eyes are held in place by a sclerotic ring, meaning that they cannot be moved independently of their head. Much like birds of prey, Drakai have tube shaped eyes, allowing them to see clearly over great distances. Like raptors they have a pronounced ridge above their eyes to protect them from glare and wind. They have standard color vision and poor night vision. They do not blink with their eyelids, instead using a nictitating membrane to lubricate the eye.
