Spirier
Spirier , of Suisbium
Mental characteristics
Personal history
During the Bleeding plague crisis in Suisbium, he was struck ill, as was his family. His family all perished. He was trapped in the city lockdown and mysteriously cured by an unknown figure. This led him to become a "courier of the dead," delivering to the dying and frail while adopting a corpse-like appearance.
The Book Club
He joined the Book Club after their legendary Tilgunite campaign was complete, following the death of Val'Dir Acher (brother of DeAth Acher) during an expedition against the Child of Tilgūn. Val'Dir had been a minor librarian at the Ancient and Venerable Library of the Imperium in Calpi, tasked with recovering ten books stolen from the restricted section by a member of Carivum Ce (disguised as a fellow librarian). Since Val'Dir had been on duty that night, it became his personal failure and quest. Spirier told the party that Val'Dir "could not rest until his quest was complete."
The Ned̬abeya Crisis
He later helped the Book Club during the Ned̬abeya Crisis when the insane Elemental Knight Dion awakened the ancient earth god Am (known to the Ithygs̬i̋c of D̬aa as the Ned̬abeya), causing massive earthquakes. Am's awakening threatened to destroy civilizations. In fact, Ceybyd, the primary settlement of D̬aa in the Underdark became unstable. Spirier helped banish Am. The Book Club prevailed using the reconstructed Dragontablet of Da. He was present at the Ascension of Hip Pocrates, his former comrade-in-arms, who was transformed by the Dragontablet to the extend she lost her mortality.
Apparent Death
Spirier knows he is to become what he calls a "Reaper," that is, one of those who collect the dead at the moment of their passing. Shortly after the defeat of Am, it seemed his own time had come, and he appeared to die. But instead, his spirit was shunted to the Realm of Shadow, where much of what he once knew was lost. He found the boundary to the Realm of Vigor, then a portal to Kornax, where he found himself very near Khaghā.
Association with the Saints of Fate
He lingered in a tavern in that city and was met by Lakri, daughter of Zirbumma of House Ujjiyy (who later became Lady Lakri, Matron of House Lakri). He has been traveling with the Saints of Fate since that time.
