Personal history
Early Life & Military Service
Grovschek was born into the Brudhkeer silversmithing clan. He was born in Dol during a period of relative stability. Showing little interest and less aptitude in silversmithy, he joined the Spaf Guard in 1308 LE, at the age of twenty-five. He showed aptitude for both traditional weapons training and for tactical thinking.
Border Wars (1340s-1360s)
He rose to prominence during the prolonged border conflicts with raiding parties from the Tilgunite gnoll group known as the Cruel Marauders. He led several successful defensive actions protecting Herke mining interests and trade routes. His tactical innovations using traditional Herke weaponry and mountain terrain earned him recognition.
The Long Campaign (1351-1358 LE)
Grovschek served as a junior officer during extended operations to permanently drive the Cruel Marauders from Herke territory. This campaign taught him the value of sustained logistics and inter-regional cooperation. These are lessons that have continued to serve him well.
Senior Command (1380s onward)
He was promoted to a full Commander status in 1382 LE. He has been responsible for training new recruits in both combat techniques and the Herke military code. He is well-known for his ability to work with non-Herke forces without compromising Herke principles about avoiding magical assistance.
