Golden Sun Bloodline

Overview

The royal and noble Golden Sun Bloodline were the ruler and the destroyer of the Dragon Sun Empire. The Bloodline originated from the chosing of the clans back in the day, shortly before the Dragon Sun Empire was founded.   The first ruling pair was Abbath and Malina who had eight children with another. The daughters were Maleina, Rhanna, Ophelia, and Wherda. Which leaves the sons who where Ithosh, Hornor, Attara, and Siegfrey.   The Golden Sun Bloodline was a Bloodline of decadence, self-importance and splendour. Mostly not for their citizens, but that was to be expected.

Naughty Halls

The Counselors Halls were not only used as a refuge by the counselors from their daily business, but also as a refuge by the Queen and King and later on by their children and sometimes their friends.   Before it was established as the Counselors Halls it had the name "Halls of Splendour" and every rumour one have heard about those marble halls were true. After their daily business the royal bloodline retired to these beautiful halls, sometimes in one room, sometimes in different rooms. Wine, music, and food were ordered and brought and just after this most clothes vanished until the very morning. And sometimes, more often than one would like, invited partners vanished too for good.

The Bloodline itself had one rule and that was not to copulate and procreate within the Bloodline. Period. No exceptions or you are dead. But otherwise everything was allowed & practiced. Even wide-ranged partner-sharing.

But those halls weren't only for this purpose. Sometimes negotiation, child births or trade offers were concluded in these halls. At least for everything business everyone was clothed.

Relationships outside the Palace

Inside the Empire

Inside the Empire the Golden Sun Bloodline - there were no real exceptions to this - had a lot of relationships to merchants and merchant guild representatives and a lot of craftsmen. To supply their luxurious lifestyle they had to spent a lot of gold, coins and favours to keep the wine, the fabrics and the food coming. More often they helped their suppliers to be in good standing with them. But the Bloodline was a cold one; if you cross or disappoint them, you probably are faster out of business than a Garladan is coming over a Goblin. Which is quite fast.

Outside of the Empire

Relationships to other nations weren't the strong suit of the Golden Sun Bloodline. Noticable at the wars they fought with the Dwarves and Elves. The Bloodline had quite strong opinions on the other races and tried not to mingle with them which also included direct trading. They ordered from other vendours so they didn't need to buy directly from other races and except from the wars they only had a few slaves - counting dozens - as the last of the slaving Empires. Garladans were the only exception to this, they came to the Empire voluntarily.

History

As aforementioned the Bloodline started with Abbath and Malina. They had a lot of children, eight to be precise. Why? For the glory of Satan the Golden Sun Bloodline, of course. The more children they had right from the start the better, so they thought. More marriages, more children later down the line. And they had no intention to have any kind of birth control, so they had eight children. But they started to use birth control after the last child because Malina nearly died.   They raised their children with the help of tutors, teachers and a few counselors so that they could have the best education possible. The marriages which concluded because of it were all well chosen and protected. Since the rest of the clans were also inside the Dragon Sun Empire, every marriage was a bit of homecoming for the Bloodline. After nearly two decades the children married and had children of their own once they reached adulthood.   After The Elven War the Bloodline was thin, a lot of people died and some clans vanished entirely due to the heavy bodycount during the war. This continued nearly three decades later with the Second Elven War which nearly eradicated the Bloodline. During the Splendour Events they lost a lot of money and lives. Some thought of poison, others of murder, but the Bloodline thinned again until Svojo the Black started the war against the Dwarves of the Long Neck which he lost.   After the Death of Svojo the Bloodline made a pact with the Dragons of the East and started to gain more power. With the knowledge from the last wars and the wisdom of the Dragons they created strong weapons, lashed out all around them and brought others to heel. Which triggered a strong response from the Orcs and the Dwarves which meant they tested the defenses of the Empire and the capital, now known as Manvongr. Lifes were lost and more gold than anyone could hope to replenish was spent.   During this time Junwai married his two wives, but before they could concieve more children, he broke his neck in bed during intercourse - don't ask... - and died before his time.   Vasilia and Eleonore came shortly after this to an understanding, so Vasilia vanished without a trace and with her child. Eleonore was elected the next Queen and brought two children into the world, Merkurion and Nuria.   Nuria vanished during one of her library visits and is said to be haunting the library ever since. Which broke the heart of the Queen and so she gave her son every freedom he wanted. And so Merkurion was a kind ruler to himself and a cold one to his citizens. He spent a lot of gold, drove his citizens away. The vaults were full of gold, but there was no food anymore.   Mother and son roamed the halls, mad and hungry, until they died naked in each others arms. For whatever reasons nobody could say. Maybe poison, maybe weakness, maybe a last kindness of the mother.   And so the Golden Sun Bloodline vanished and was never seen again.

Golden Tales

"How can someone be so rich, so powerful, so full of wonder, lust, and buried in luxurious items but lost to... time?"
"Because of everything you said."
"What do you mean?"
"You see, the Dragon Sun Empire - and so the Golden Sun Bloodline - was pretty much full of itself. They wanted to have the best of the best of the best. Which means, if you had a dress, they wanted to have it, but in three or four or five times more expensive and better. Or if you had fish, they wanted the entire lake."
"Sounds like every noble or royal to me."
"You might be right, but they only cared for themselves, unlike the royal line of Hulwar now. Findings and tomes described orgies sometimes so huge, that the Halls of Splendour didn't fit for the festivities. They wanted to have sex, they wanted to have food, they wanted to have gold. Reports described even some Garladans who were happily doing the Bloodline every favour they asked for."
"Those nasty..."
"Nah, don't say it."
"Sorry."
"Accepted. - And since they didn't care for anyone else, they brought ruin upon the citizens and so on themselves. Their bloodline died in the wars, died of hunger because of the famines. They died because the world didn't care anymore."
— Scholar and his student in the lecture room

"The Dragon Sun Empire was one of the most influential human nations the world has seen to date. Its glory, it shine, its wealth is unmatched to this day, even by the standards of the Golden Hoard Capital and Investment Management, Hulwar, Elves or Dwarves. Its influence is still to see in Hulwar. We are not only talking about the sometimes spicy food we found, but of course in the clothes and the architecture, even when the Palace and the Counselors Halls had a few re-decorations.

You ever thought of other things than their luxurious way of life? The raunchy affairs? No? Why not? What about their science? Their medical research? Some of their scholars laid the ground for the modern medicine or technology, if you see it or not."
— Historian to his lecture hall in advanced DSE knowledge

An interesting family with a eather ignoble end. Probably for the best, though, they didn't seem partcularly good for the realm

At the beginning they had the opportunity to be good for the realm; to live and prosper as a nation. But the curse of the gold grabbed them by the throat and...well, you see where this was going :D
