Xiphias Nonoue

Xiphias is a Swordfish Merfolk. A member of the Seven Sea Sultans and Ruler of the Northwest Kuroumi Kingdom, Regngard found within the Boreal Sea. She is the sole ruler responsible for the north waters and protection of Razor Reef, the world's only cold water reef.

Xiphias is described by her subjects as one with great ambition, second only to the Emperor. However, she is outspoken and ignores social traditions. She is highly opinionated and will impose them on others. She is quick to get into conflict with the other sultans and delights in challenging others to fights.

Insights

Mu-Mer & the Captial ~ "The city is mostly white and reflects like the snow in the north. It hurts my eyes. The sun is harsh and the water too warm. There are many different kinds of folk here and they all want to sell you something."
  Blood Gulf ~ "Bright red waters that taste and smell of blood and salt. It is no wonder so many predators gather here. The culture is brutal and the folk simple, strength rules here as it should."
  Brakwater ~ "I hear it is a place for outcasts and vermin unfit for the empire. It is a wonder why the Emperor would allow for such a place. Maybe there is yet some use for these folks? New purpose. I'm sure their sultan would not mind a few missing numbers."
  Abyssals ~ "I saw them in the capital once, at the base of the citadel. Skin much like mine, eyes that cast a glowing gaze. Clothing not found on other folk or made of regular material. They seem special, important, yet insular. What is life even like at those depths?"
  Dragons ~ "Legends of that war reached the shores of Regngard while I was still young. Returning warriors, too injured to fight told stories of how dragons could kill a hundred Mer. I would have liked to have been there and seen for myself."
  Naga ~ "Snakes! Thankfully the cold water will keep them away from home."
  The Shark Caste & Mizuhime ~ "The elite warriors of the empire and with it all the titles and special privilege. They are brazen and have fat-headed ways of thinking. They believe only they are fit to protect this whole worth, but they can't be everywhere and they often cause the very problems they are meant to prevent.
  The Mizuhime, as a sultan I'm not fond of her. As a fry, I was told stories of the great Mizuhime who would fell dragons in battle. The reality I have found falls short. She is self-important, haughty and gaudy by all means. She lacks any characteristic I would define as heroic.
  The Emperor ~ I have been in the presents of our Emperor but twice. Once when I was appointed as sultan and the other when I was granted the Marlin Caste. They must expect great feats of my office and I shall not be one to disappoint. They are wise to have granted me these heights. Though, I am sad to have not been granted to hear their voice or view them in full. I would so love to find myself in a duel and perhaps witness the sword of fire they were said to wield in those stories."
