The Birth of a Legend
Even I cant makes heads or tails of all the myths surrounding his birth. And not for lack of trying, I dont think he knows the truth any more than the rest of us"I heard he was born under a favored star, in a field of wildflowers, honeybees and butterflies all around. His mum was a famous monk of the Open Hand school, and his dad was a barbarian from a mountain tribe. They had retired from adventuring to a cabin in the mountains, making mead and living a quiet life, until little Bruce Leeroy came along. Growing up next to that field is where his philosophy came from, float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" "Pah, what a load of crap that is. It was his dad that was a monk, the Ascendant Dragon hisself, and his mom was a warrior of the sea, with an anger to match. He was born in the way of her tribe, a water birth in a shallow pool out amongst the coral. Stung by a jellyfish as soon as he came out of the womb, a blessing from the sea goddess herself. That is why its called the Jellyfish Fist." "Now see here, Jeb was right, it was his mom that was a monk, worked at The Rookery, though she was one of the good ones. Bruce came into this world with a shout so loud that all the dragon eggs there hatched all at once in response. That is why he is called the Waking Dragon. Thats also why there is hardly anything left of the Rookery, can you imagine, hundreds of hungry baby dragons hatching all at once looking for food." "Now look here, Hanna, that dont make one lick o sense, first off, you didn even mention his da in the story, and also, how did is ma escape the destruction, do you think that she just grabbed him and ran so soon after givin birth?"
And so it goes on, night after night. Many and varied are the myths that surround the enigmatic birth of the legendary monk Bruce Leeroy Jenkins. A legend in his own right, though not always for the best reasons. He is cursed some say, or blessed. The Way of the Jellyfish has started to spread throughout the world, and while planning may not be his strong suit, one can no longer doubt that those who hear his battle-cry tremble in fear, for disaster will soon follow, for someone.
This made me smile. I loved all the different stories.
