I grow increasingly convinced that all magical rings carry a weak curse of misfortune on them. I don't have any concrete evidence for this, but they seem to go missing at the most inopportune times with a surprising amount of regularity. — Jasper Cameron, Leader of the Bronze Ravens.
"Honestly, I make more money from my failure that I do from my successes. That is a bit of an advantage of learning to enchant from scratch rather than having a teacher. Teachers are always 'Oh, don't do that... what are ye doin? that won't work" and on
and ON. Point the curious in a direction and let them loose. Sure, you might lose one or 2 to the occasional unfortunate accident, but the things that young minds come up with... splendid."
"Why, one of my students made what I think is the city guards favorite accident. A Ring of Self Invisibility. It makes it so that you cant see yourself. Rather useful for catching skilled but gullible thieves. See, when they put it on, it blocks you from your perception. Wave your hand in front of your face, cant see it. Look in a mirror, you may think you are a vampire... but you are still completely visible to everyone else. That ring seems to pop up every 3-4 years a few thieves fall for it, then suddenly it vanishes from the records for a bit."
"Lots of rings seem to follow that. They get used for a few years, then they are misplaced, stolen, or otherwise lost. Then after some time has passed (as little as a few months, but sometimes generations go by) suddenly the ring is found again. I think it is just the way of the world to be honest. Magic rings go missing, then they get found and get up to more mischief."
