In the distant future of our universe, humanity has grown past the need for single nations, and under the banner of the United Terra League, focused on expanding through the galaxy. Eventually, 200 years after the first colony ship to Mars was sent, the first extraterrestrial beings were encountered. Identifying themselves as the Serentans, they gladly accepted humanity as friends. They had allied themselves with the Kessans when both were victims of the warlike hivemind, the Vangrian, who attempted to conquer both their home planets and exterminate their populations for resources. The three species led a united front against the Vangrian threat, almost defeating the hivemind. As they neared its home planet, the Vangrian sacrificed half of itself as energy to power its devastating new weapon, which humanity calls "The Harbinger". The laser seared off the entirety of North America, most of Europe, and half of South America, which caused the United Terra League to withdraw and rebuild its home planet. With humanity nearly taken out of the war, the Serentans and Kessans continue to fight, hoping to bring humanity back from the brink. In this universe of conflict, half of the Milky Way is in a stalemate war, humanity is rebuilding from a devastating blow, and its closest allies are barely fending off an enemy that would seek to wipe them all out for its own survival.   On the Serentan home world, the first reports were spoken as gossip, a myth that might have been born of desperation. However, more reports started spreading of similar anomalies in the Kessan Empire, and eventually Terra. Gifted individuals had started to appear, their powers appearing spontaneously. Nobody knows quite what this is, but humanity calls it "magic", once thought to just be stories. One thing was clear to all three species though: this could be their chance to defeat the Vangrian once and for all, at any cost.
