Kainyal

Kainyal is the name given to the natural fluctuations of the world in the Neta language. It includes things such as the cycle of day and night, the changing of the seasons, the gradual shifting of the poles, and the epochal variance between times of high magic and times of low magic (such as now). Although it covers many different things, Kainyal is seen as one of the world's sacred truths, something inevitable and not to be trifled with. Even temporary and personal things such as changes in one's wealth, status, or luck are often termed as Kainyal, and an important aspect of life for Postheistic  monks is accepting and embracing these changes, rather than trying to fight them.   One of the more peculiar and less scientifically understood aspects of Kainyal is the fluctuation between periods of high and low magic on Kōna. While, in the present day, magic is extremely uncommon, this has not always been the case. From only three or four centuries ago, there are many historical accounts that give the impression that magic was much more widespread at that time. In one such account, an entire village was endowed with magical powers, and used those powers to escape imperial rule and transport themselves to another realm entirely. Presently, it is believed by many that the spread of magical energy could again be on the rise, and many are nervous about what this may mean for the coming generations.
