Toasted Yuca
At its core, this dish is nothing more than yuca flour stirred in copious amounts of butter until the the mixture is dry and fluffy.
Those simple ingredients, along with the ease of preparation, make toasted yuca a versatile base to many other dishes found around the Independent Isles. As such, the list of additional ingredients that it can be mixed with it is almost endless, from meats to eggs (scrambled or boiled) to plantains and other fruits.
Best eaten whilst still warm or, at least at room temperature, toasted yuca is generally served as a side dish as one might rice, or sprinkled over a dish. Although eating it on its own is also a known comfort food.
It has a buttery, slightly nutty, taste with a soft and tender texture.
