Parakai

Although the name for this dish means food scraps in the Talfaltan tongue, very little of a catch goes to waste aboard any of their ships.

The name actually comes from the old practice of cutting off a small section of a catch for instant consumption, often with the flesh still dripping with seawater or seasoned with gill blood.

Because it’s served raw, this dish is also given to those of the crew whose tasks don’t permit them to properly settle with the crew for a hot meal, or may even prefer a dish they can pick at.

When a particularly abundant harvest is brought in, the crew will celebrate with a more lavish version that also includes fish liver, ocean algae and/or seeds.
