Kofe
Despite the many kofe houses dotting the Udynea Empire, this bean-based drink and the means of its preparation, is from the neighbouring Niholia Empire, who fiercely guards their plantations as the roasted beans are one of their major exports. Niholians are also very particular on how a good kofe is prepared.
According to them, the roasted beans must be ground into a very fine powder before placed in a copper flask of cold water and brought to the boil, but not permitted to sit at that temperature for long.
They insist kofe must be served in a thin-rimmed glass cup, with many wealthy families having heirlooms to present during unions.
In Udynea, these glass cups are often exchanged for fancy porcelain or metal variants and served with sweet foods.
