Summer Camp 2021 Pledge

Hello everybody! This July marks one year since I've joined World Anvil and created this page for storing the information of my latest fantasy world. But also is going to be my first Summer Camp ever!   From what I understand, this article is part of the "homework " for preparing myself and my world to this event and it is supposed to be an introduction/organizator/pledge.

Which project are your worldbuilding efforts tied to?

My worldbuilding is currently focusing the setting in my fantasy novel Seeking for the Lost Northern Stars and it's related works such as A Demon's Howl:Folk Tales from Moskova's Lore . Originally, it was going to just focus on plot-related things such as the characters and the locations mentioned in the novel, but thanks to the latest community challenges I've expanded to non plot related articles as well.

Which world are you working on?

I'm working in the world where this article is stored, the Kingdom of Moskova which is setting of the books in which I'm currently working. It includes Moskova and some other countries.

Which area of the world are you working on?

By now, I know that I'll be working mainly in Moskova , the country in which the novel takes place and I won't be expanding to other nations yet. However, I hope the prompts will help me to dive deeper into the supernatural aspects of the world as well as the cultural ones.

How much are you aiming to complete?

As everyone on here, I'd like to complete the 31 prompts, but I know that since July will be a busy month and I don't want to force anything or getting overwhelmed by something that's supposed to be fun, I'm just aiming to try and go on my way, completing what I'm able to do. I know that, while some prompts will be easily adjustable to my setting, others will be more challenging and others even may be too specific for being suitable.   I'd like to get at least the copper winner badge, since I'm a fan of badges so, I know I have to write at least 10 prompts. From my experience of World Ember last year (event in which I wrote 10 articles and 10.27K words in around one and a half week), it is a goal I guess I could achieve. However, it will depend on my mood, the kind of prompts (since for me is easier to write from scratch than from an already existing idea) and available time. I'll let life surprise me!   However, I think that despite the badge, the actual prize is increasing the development of this world as well as improving my language and writing skills in an enjoyable and funny way with the company of cool people.

When will you write?

I'll try to write when I'm not busy with my stuff of real life just as spending time with family/friends and taking finals, since July is the month of my winter break, which is actually just a break of classes, as exams and finals keep going.

Who is your supporting network?

Thanks to World Ember and the WA's discord server, I've met lots of awesome and talented people who's inspiring me as well of encouraging me to work in this world. Below I list some on them, but there are a lot more!

Organizing my worldbuilding

Organization is something I've never considered myself good at, but organizing my worldbuilding has as advantage that it takes less effort for me or someone else to find something quickly. Since the beginning of my page in World Anvil, my articles are sorted into several categories, each one regarding to a different thematic and article template. Each category is also divided in subcategories. This is an aspect of this world that's in constant development.
Categories subcategories function
Out of universe
  • Getting Started
  • Books & stories
Gathers articles related to things that are "outside " this fictional world, such as this article, the primer, guides and each book's information .
Characters from "Seeking for the Lost Northern stars " _ Gathers all the characters from the main novel this universe revolves around.
Cultural
  • Ethnicities/peoples
  • Folklore
  • Objects
  • Organization/ politics
  • Languages
Gathers all the articles related to in-world cultural aspects, from myths, ethnicities, countries etc.
Locations
  • Natural places
  • Settlements & buildings
Gathers all the articles about places of Moskova, both natural and man made. Some of those places appear in the books, while others are not plot related.

Image Inspiration

For imagining, writing but also for showcasing graphically the concept of my world, i use several kinds of graphical resources. My preferred mediums are self-made images such as digital drawings and pictures taken by myself, but sometimes i've got not enough time for making them so I have to use others alternatives, for example using some help of AI softwares or even using pics taken by other people or ancient artpieces, obviously crediting their original authors.   SOFTWARES USED FOR DRAWING/CREATING PHOTOREALISTIC IMAGES
  • MS Paint.
  • Pixlr-E.
  • PicsArts.
  • Nvidia's Gaugan (beta).
RESORCES FROM WHERE I GET PHOTOGRAPHY
  • Pixabay.
  • Pexels.

Political Divisions of Moskova
The Kingdom of Moskova is divided in several administrative units.
  • Provinces: Locally known as "Oblasts".
  • Territories: They have the same political status as provinces but the difference is that them were more recently acquired.
  • Northern Lands and Domains: These are also called "Wild Lands" and are territories that are claimed by Moskova but couldn't get an official status yet because their population and amount of settlements is small or because them are mostly unexplored due to their natural and supernatural dangers. Each domain is gets its name thanks to it most recognizable or most common animal species.

Musical Inspiration

Music is one of the main inspirations of my novel Seeking for the Lost Northern Stars , hence my worldbuilding project itself. This playlist is always growing since it gathers songs that have inspired the projects since its earlier stages and songs i find that can fit well to the vibe, a character's backstory or a plot point.

Placeholders

I've never used placeholder images but the prep homework required it and also, I've seen some people using them. It is a touch for making the articles lesser empty looking until I get photos/art. The pictures used are self taken and edited by myself. You may be wondering "Don't these look too wintery for a Summer Camp? Well, I plan to use them not just for Summer Camp but also in any moment I'll need to.

How do you get the author profiles?!   You can't beat badges :) and I see you not accepting any constraints! I'll watch to see if you hit any of the folk tales, I want to read more of them. I like examining small details happening along side the plot so interested in seeing you consider the non-plot articles.

Read the great stories submitted for the Worldember Prose Prompt.

I appreciate you like it hehe :D The author profile can be done with BBCode, you just have to write [ usercard: username ] (without spaces) and it's ready.   Yes, I'm trying to develop the folk takes too, I hope some of the prompts help me with it. I already have like 4 + a prologue for the anthology written :)
