Guild Headquarters
Within a network of catacombs and tunnels beneath the city of Lenen lies the secret headquarters of the Guild, an underground network of assassins. Once founded in order to help the Royal Court build and maintain control over the kingdom, the Guild has since become an independent organization. Some of its members are now even aiming to undermine the established government system.
What began as secret meetings in the basement of city hall has since become a vast network of corridors, chambers and halls that is nearly the same size as the city above. Guild members consider the entrance in the city's largest market hall the main entrance to the headquarters, although there are many other entrances throughout the city. The market hall has the advantage that it is usually very crowded, and people of all social and political standings go there to buy their food.
While a surprising amount of Guild members actually live inside the headquarters, they are a dangerous place to be, even for members of the Guild. With harsh training and so many skilled killers around, being in the wrong place at the wrong time is not a good idea even for a member. For an outsider, coming upon the headquarters means almost certain death.
It is a common myth in Lenen that the tunnels beneath the city are cursed, as most who go down there either do not return or come back changed.
It is, however, not a curse that causes this phenomenon, but rather the Guild killing or recruiting anyone who accidentally happens upon their headquarters.
The general public's fear of the so-called cursed tunnels beneath the city helps the Guild to keep the exact location and layout of their headquarters a secret.
