Esmir
Crown Prince Esmir is the first and only son of King Ageun III. of Keider and Queen Lupera. As the King's only legitimate child, he was raised to one day take over the throne from his father. From a very young age, he was educated in history, science, statecraft and military strategy. He was also trained in swordplay, but violence never became his weapon of choice. Instead, Esmir prefers diplomatic conflict resolution, making him the exact opposite of his half-brother Aslo, who would always choose the sword over diplomacy.
At twenty-one years old, he has a reputation as an intellegent bookworm who loves a good discussion, but he is also known to quite enjoy a pretty woman's company. Because of this, it comes as no surprise when he falls for Faera, who he first believed to be a former tavern wench who had been promoted to handmaiden to his father's Mistress, Lady Arminda.
He is quite shocked to find out that the seemingly sweet, innocent Faera actually is a trained assassin who was sent to murder him as part of a plot by a secret guild of assassins to overthrow the King and help his half-brother Aslo ascend the throne. After learning this, he first felt unsure whether he could still trust her, but eventually decides to trust her, and they devise a plan to fake his death, escape the castle and go into hiding somewhere in the city.
While Faera returns to the Guild, her assignment supposedly completed, Esmir stays in hiding. Unfortunately, their secret is later exposed, forcing them to flee the city and later the kingdom, narrowly avoiding the Guild assassins sent to hunt them down. Eventually, Faera convinces Esmir to stop running. Together, they face their pursuers, and Faera kills them.
Faera an Esmir then secretly return to Lenen in order to find allies and stop the Guild's plot. However, during their absence, Lady Arminda slowly weakened Esmir's father, the King to a point where he has only days left to live. This makes their efforts time-sensitive, since the new King is to be crowned a fortnight after the old King's death according to the law, and once Aslo is crowned, he will be untouchable.
Luckily, Esmir and Faera are able to find old friends and new allies to fight against the corruption of the new regime. After some meticulous planning, they are able to thwart the Guild's plans and stop Aslos coronation just in time. Esmir ascends the throne he was raised to one day inherit and asks Faera to stay at court as his new Spy Master as well as his trusted friend and advisor.
Crown Prince Esmir is twenty-one years old. With his dark blonde hair, hazel eyes and tan skin, he is the spitting image of his father, though the two men are quite different from each other in some regards.
Young, handsome Esmir has a bit of a weakness for beautiful women, though he finds intelligence equally attractive.
Although he can hold his own in a swordfight if necessary, Esmir is not much of a fighter. Given the choice, he would pick talking over fighting every single time.
While he is seldom seen with a weapon, he almost always has a book on him. One of his favourites are the memoirs of Ionathar Angeleos, a King of a distant kingdom about a century before Esmirs time and something of a role model to him.

The King's health is declining during that time, officially because he doesn't cope well with his son's supposed sudden death, though he is actually slowly being poisoned.
