Council of Masters
The Council of Masters, also known as the King's inner circle, is a small group of persons, usually all men, with different areas of expertise. Their task is to oversee their respective area, to advise the King in matters of state and to assist him in his decisions. Beside the King himself, four other men have a permanent place on the Council of Masters, but other important people are frequently invited to join if matters that concern them specifically are discussed.
The core members of the Council of Masters are: The Master of Coin, who is in charge of the crowns earnings and expenses, the Master of Defenses, also known as the General of the Royal Army, the Master of Books, who is the head librarian, historian and book keeper at court, and the Master of Spies, who's task is to covertly identify and disarm any and all secret threats against the crown as well as to keep eyes and ears on the population of the city and kingdom.
The extended council may include Mayors of cities all over the kingdom, the Master of Ceremonies at court, if social events are being planned, the Master of Ships for naval affairs, both in trade and in military contexts, the Stable Master, and the High Priest of the Church of the Divine King and Queen in religious matters.
Roughly once every year, the entire extended council convenes in the royal palace in Lenen, a meeting for which the council chamber in the castle is decidedly not large enough.
Because of this, this meeting often happens in the warmer season and is held outside in the palace gardens under heavy guard to make sure no unwanted ears hear what is discussed.
In case of terrible weather, the meeting is held in the throne room or the banquet hall and ball room above it.
