North Etorean Railway № 333
North Etorean Railway № 333 was a single 0-6-0 goods locomotive built by the North Etorean Railway at their Kilbourne Works in 1892. She was built using parts from other locomotives.
Due to a push for standardisation, the NER found itself in possession of spare parts from several recently withdrawn classes of locomotive; at the same time, there was also a need for a light but powerful locomotive to work on one of the colliery branch lines formerly belonging to the Roxton & Cherringham Railway. As such, the then locomotive Superintendant of the NER, G. H. Frye, sought to use the spare parts to construct a new, purpouse-built locomotive.
№ 333 emerged from Kilbourne Locomotive Works in December 1892. She was constructed from the tender of a B2 Class 2-4-0, the frames, wheels and motion of an E Class 0-6-0 and the boiler and smokebox (and associated fittings) from a recently rebuilt F Class 0-6-0. The remaining parts, such as the cab, buffers and running board / footplate, were new fabrications. Sold to the Meon Valley Railway as their №5 "Meon" in 1915.
