MCE&KR Class Db
The Midland Counties, Edgcote & Knightsbury Railway Class Db was a class of 41 0-6-0 tender locomotives built between 1895 and 1901.
The Class Db was designed by George Cornell for both passenger and freight duties, making them one of the most versatile locomotive classes ever built by the MCE&KR. The first of the class were constructed at the MCE&KR's Edgcote Works but later batches were contracted to two outside builders, Foster, Gardener & Co. and Decauville. Even though the class was built for mixed traffic purposes, the class were mostly used on last class member withdrawn and preserved on 7th April 1971. Accidents & Crashes:
On the 3rd August 1924, locomotive №43 derailed at Heaton Spring while pulling a goods train, the crew sustained minor injuries but nobody was killed.
On the 7th January 1928, locomotive №61 overran the buffers at () station while pulling a down passenger train from Mardley. One person was killed and two more were injured including fireman Bill Hitchens.
