GN&SR 220 Class 0-8-0
The Great Northern & Southern Railway (GN&SR) Class 220 was a class of 0-8-0 steam locomotive built between 1904 and 1910 for handling heavy coal trains over the Highlands. They all passed to the North Etorean Railway in 1932, who redesignated them Class A5. They were withdrawn from service between 1958 and 1964.
War Service:
In 1915, Twenty locomotives were requisitioned by the Railway Operating Division. They were renumbered from GN&SR Nos. 215 - 235 to ROD Nos. 2793 - 2813. In 1916 ROD No. 2799 sent to France and cut off in No Man's Land during the Battle of Beaubonne. She was salvaged by the Germans and put to work on their military railways. She returned to Etorea in 1919.
Etorean National Railway:
In 1953, Forty Two locomotives entered ENR stock.
Preservation:
One (GN&SR No. 215, ENR No. 43215) has been "preserved". It is currently in the Pugh Brothers Scrapyard on Hunton Island and is awaiting transport to the Shale Valley Railway.
