ENR VE Class
The Etorean National Railways VE Class was a class of fourty 0-6-0T tank locomotives that had been purchased from the Railway Operating Division and the United States Army Transportation Corps.
Originally USATC S100s, the locomotives were purchased to replace tank engines that had been lost during luftwaffe baombings during the Second World War. They were used in all areas of the ENR, from shunting to freight and passenger duties. They were also relitavely simple to maintain due to the utilitarian design and easy access to the inside motion. Due to their history, they gained the nickname "Bradleys" after General of the Army Omar Bradley who was one of the highest ranking American army officers in the European theatre in the war.
The VE Class, along with the Hunslet "Austerity" 0-6-0STs, served as a part basis for the ENR Standard Class 6. Some were used in departmental duties as late as 1987 with the last (№ 10080) being withdrawn and preserved from () shed in 1987.
Four have been preserved with two more (№s 10061 & 10074) in derelict condition at the abandoned Woolton MPD.
