ENR Class 01
The ENR "Class 01" is the designation for any private / prototype locomotive that runs on the ENR network. This also applied to ex - light railway engines. In terms of private engines, this could mean an engine owned by any of the nobility that connects a railway on their estate to the ENR or a shunter that is owned by the company that 'owns' the yard or that shunts at a rural station and is owned by the station master. In the numbering scheme, the 1 would always be second. It would be written as follows: X1XXX.
Examples: One example of this is southern region no. 61218 " ". She had been taken into ENR stock in 1953 after working for the Ivygrove & West Ambleton Railway as their No. 3, she served as the station pilot at Loch Blaire for 19 years before being preserved. Another example would be Hunton Island No. H1142 "Kenbury Estate" / "Lillie". She was an English Electric Type 3B purchased in 1931 by Sir Peter Hadley, 2nd Earl Hadley and was originally named after his estate. After WW2 however it was renamed (by his grandchild's request) after the Churston Station cat who was killed in a German Bombing on 21st September 1943. Because of the numbering scheme for non - mainland railways (The initial of the island followed by a 1 (0X) or 2 (XX) digit number) an extra 3 numbers were added to ensure there was not any confusion between locos.
