Protests begin all across America against poor working conditions and wages among primarily railroad workers. Many of these unions protest the acceptance of Chinese immigrants for lower wages, feeling that the white American workers are being disenfranchised. Chancellor Lincoln attempts to introduce labor acts into Congress, but is mostly blocked by the Whig controlled Senate.
