Turkey
The Sultanate of Turkey is a nation straddled between Europe and Asia bordering Greece, Bulgaria, Iran, Transcaucasia, and Kingdom of Hejaz.
Culture
The Sultan oof Turkey attempted to maintain the title of Caliph, denoting them as the leader of the Muslim world. However, having lost the major holy sites of Islam, this title was challenged by the Kingdom of Hejaz, who's king desired the title for himself. With the assistance of Germany, the matter was quelled in order to maintain the Berlin to Baghdad Railway. With tensions still being high, Germany was forced to create the Imperial Railway Corps, or the Kaiserliches Eisenbahnkorps, in order to maintain control of the railway.
History
During the Great War, the Ottoman Empire joined on the side of the German Empire and the Russian Empire, believing that, though they had historical rivalries with Russia, that Germany was their last main ally in the continent. However, Great Britain greatly hindered their war effort, and maintained would be the Arab Revolt.
Following the war, the Ottoman Empire was dissolved, with the Sultanate maintaining power due in part of the efforts of Germany. However, the southern portions became the nations of Hejaz and Nejd. With tensions arising in Europe against Bulgaria, Turkey joined the Balkan Pact, setting aside any territorial disputes with the other members, in order to contain Bulgarian aggression. Joining the pact, however, unintentionally brought Turkey in conflict with Italy.
