Last known note of Sgt. Aaron Johnson,
We were marched in the sun for miles at a time, without sufficient water. We labored for God knows how many days, building whatever the Japs told us to do. When we were of no more use, they formed us in line, and we watched our weakened comrades walk to the gallows. I wish I could say I grew numb from it, but all I felt was anger. Now, as the war has ended and we go to the quiet of peacetime, all I can say is I wish to join my brothers, who are still hanging from those gallows.
