The Japanese were above us. They were dropping depth charges to try to keep us below. We are running out of air, with many of the men dropping from carbon dioxide poisoning. We need to surface soon, but we have not had the opportunity. There are too many Jap ships around. If we do not surface soon, we will suffocate.
