Declaration of Henry L. Stimson
With the war firmly ending, there remains one decision that currently bears on me. A young man of unknown name and origin gave his life in the Pacific fighting the Empire of Japan in Operation Downfall. His sacrifice of unparalleled proportions should be commended. It is with honor that I have decided a monument shall be constructed in Columbia, honring this soldier. He will be entombed in a great mausoleum, not only honoring him, but those that gave their lives in defense of the homeland abroad.
