Legend of Arius and the Twin Blades
In the year 2568 BGJ, an elven warrior named Arius the Eternal sought to ascend to godhood. They prayed day and night for the Celestials to show them the path towards ascendancy. One day, Genonia, the Goddess of Duality, heard Vorlat's prayers. For their consistent devotion, Genonia decided to grant his request, stealing a tiny portion of the powers of Dorial, the God of the Moon, and Sorbek, the God of the Sun. Genonia harnessed these energies into two swords, the Sun Blade and the Holy Moonlight Blade. She gifted them to Vorlat and told them to use the blades to expand the elven empire, but to swear to lead with duality, never prioritizing his country over the wellbeign of the rest of the world. Vorlat used the blades to fight valiantly against those that would oppose the expansion of the Elven Empire. One day, Arius became greedy, and used the Aetherwilt curse to decimate an innocent village that refused to submit to the Elves. Having broken their promise, the twin blades were thrown out of balance, the Sun Blade bursting into fire and the Holy Moonlight Blade erupting into a wave of moonlight. These conflicting energies obliterated Arius, separating their mind from their body. Their soul became split, trapped within the two blades. Vorlat's body began to act on its own, becoming a feral husk, desperate to recombine their soul. The Elven High Council attempted to contain Arius and cover up what had happened to them, but Arius escaped, stealing the Holy Moonlight Blade and hiding himself away within the depths of the Underdark. Arius would then spend the rest of eternity using their magic to recreate the Sun Blade, which had been lost to the hands of men, becoming impossible to find. They were able to create an imitation of it, however it's power was greatly diminished.
