Nephele of Ktí̱ni̱ní̱sos

Ktí̱ni̱ní̱sos is a fairly populous island, and so many make use of it as an epithet, but none are perhaps more literally deserving than Nephele of Ktí̱ni̱ní̱sos. She owns over half of the land on the island, making her by leaps and bound the largest landowner in the city and Republic of Oros. She utilizes most of this land in her capacity as the largest cattle rancher in the city and republic, in fact over ninety-five percent of Orosian cattle bear her family brand. In addition, she offers boutique horse breeding and other hostling services to the citizens of her city, non-citizens need not apply. Nephele's family have occupied this position for generations, but the empire had been slowly fragmenting as the family branched outwards, becoming more of a union of many smaller estates than a true empire. When Nephele was young, however, disaster struck. It's not clear even today exactly what happened, but at the age of thirteen Nephele found herself the only survivor of the entire extended family. Shocking her detractors, she consolidated and even expanded her inheritance, and is now in a better economic position than any of her forebears. Even more remarkably, she seems to have weathered the storm mentally and emotionally as well, though she was always a quiet and reserved young woman, she has remained happy and confident. These qualities, and her tremendous wealth, have made her the most eligible bachelorette in Oros, and there are literal lines of suitors waiting twenty-four hours a day to make their case. As yet, she hasn't given any of them more attention than courtesy demanded, and even then only choosing to do so with those who have some unrelated business interest for her. There are of course those who question the convenience of her newfound prominence, especially in light of the seeming fact that she has emerged unscathed, but extensive investigations have never found anything to implicate her.
