Races

Changeling

Changelings like their name can change their appearance, but it has its limits. You have to stay the same size category, can only shapeshift into humanoids, and have to see a realistic picture or see the humanoid in person to shapeshift into them. People have a predigest against changelings therefore a changeling is almost always in the form of their humanoid of choice.

Dwarves

Dwarves are skilled artisans and are one of the richer races. They are often employed by fancy coarts to make fancy art pieces. Yes, a lot of dwarves live underground, but dwarves aren’t known for mining, but more of their weapons, artisans, and camaraderie. They tend to work slower as they don’t see the need for rush since of their longer lifespans.

Elves

The Aereni (High Elves)

The Aereni elves come from the island of Aerenal. Aerens all have experience with the undead and necromancy and many Aereni do some sort of necromancy. If you are an Aereni it is likely that you came for peace keeping with the nations of Khorvaire, (That is where the campaign is taking place), or are a runaway trying to hide from Aerenals government.

The Tairnadal (Wood Elves)

These elves took over Valenar a long time ago and now are established warriors. They protect their territory fiercely and sometimes you can find one as a mercenary. Tairnadals are very spiritual and believe that to honour the dead you are to mimic them. If you are a Tairnadal you would make up an ancestor that your character has supposedly been copying.

The Drow

The Drow are shunned in all countries, besides one, because of their history and their dable in dark magic. The drow are very welcome in Droaam and have established their cities in the underground of that country. They are known for being cruel and magical although some are kind hearted. They are great architects and have some of the most beautiful cities.

Gnomes

Most Gnomes come from Zilargo and are known for their trickery and manipulation. Zilargan gnomes are often involved with their family in schemes. Zilargan gnomes believe in a strong family and that a family should stay together no matter the mischief.

Goblinoids

There are three creatures counted as goblinoids. There is the bugbear, the hobgoblin, and the goblin. Most goblins live in Dargunn or in Droaam and all other countries shun them or are directly aggressive to them. In Dargunn they live in clans with the bigger clans ruling over the lower clans. If you live in Droaam you are one of the weaker races there and you have learnt to get your way through trickery and stealing.

Half-elves

Half-elves are not only human and elf partners, the half-elf means half elf and half a different race. Half-elves are known for being loyal to their allies and being nice. Due to your split parentage you will often be the mediators for debates between two different races. A half-elves goal is to include everyone and learn more about the culture of their parents. Some Half-elves can be hardened or rude and it depends on their parents.

Half-orc

Half-orc are not only human and orc partners, the half-orc means half orc and half a different race, although orcs aren’t able to breed with a lot of races. Most half-orcs live in the Shadow Marches with their orc parents and hunt wild game. Some live with the orcs in Droaam where they would often be mercenaries for hire. And some live in the demon waste fighting off the Carrion tribes to protect the rest of the world.

Halflings

There are two very different halflings. There are the nes that live among humans, those ones tend to be polite and make taverns, and then there are the wild halflings of the Talenta Plains. These ones live in big groups they call Temalias, ride dinosaurs and live off the grid. The Talenta ones often don’t get social cues and do weird things that are normal to them like eating bugs and not using utensils.

Humans

Humans are the most common race and are very versatile. They live in all sorts of places and just adapt to where they live. A human from Breland might be sneaky and tough, while a human from Aundair would likely have studied magic.

Kalashtar

Kalashtar were first created when some humans and elves went up against the Nighetemay Quori, (Nightmare spirits). Some of those humans and elves took Dagetame Quori, (Dream spirits) into their body and with their help the humans and elves killed many Quori’s. The Dagetame Quori weren't able to leave the host's body afterwards and that created the race of the kalashtar. A kalashtar looks like a human, elf, or even a half-elf, but they have a spirit in their body that heightens their mental resistance and makes them magical.

Orc

Orcs are not the smartest in this setting either, but they are actually very righteous. Orcs create an amount of laws when they are young that they must follow throughout their life. Some live fighting off demons and carrion tribes in the demon waste, while others live in droaam trying to keep their family afloat. The other place where orcs normally live is in the Shadow Marches, there they live in big groups hunting and finding valuables to sell.

Pompup

Pompups are basically what you get when you make a Pomeranian puppy stand on its hind legs and become a humanoid. No one knows how they came to be or even when, but everyone knows that they are adorable. Another thing I should mention is that pompups are slaves. There are two types of pompups, the pomskies, which are often used in beauty pageants and are owned by rich nobles, and the pomchis, they are the workers and tend to have to do repetitive tasks for their owners.

Shifter

A shifter is kinda like if a werewolf was more human like. A shifter can change between human and the beast within. The beast within is their human form, but with some more animalistic features that will represent their beast. There are 4 different beast within shapes and they are Beasthide, these forms would be thick skinned like bears or boars, Longtooth, these forms would be like lupine animals, wolves etc, Swiftstride, these forms are more feline, and Wildhunt, these forms are for any animal that tracks its prey. If you are one of theses it is best to avoid any contact with a person from the Silver Flame, (a religion).

Tiefling

Tieflings are as rare as you can get in Khorvaire. The main difference between the normal tiefling and these are that these tieflings look more like the demons that they were cursed to look like. The tiefling is a curse, (or blessing), that can be put on a human to make them look more like a demon. Mostly only powerful demons can curse someone like this, causing the cursed individual to look more like themselves and act like them, but a powerful enough spirit could curse someone with just a couple different results. Tieflings are shunned everywhere around Khorvaire, besides in carrion tribes, and they may be killed on sight.

Warforged

Warforged were built by House Cannith, (A dragonmark house), as machines of war and are fully sentient. The warforged were built to serve in the military and obey their masters. All warforged have a special thing that can force them to take orders. Like one warforged might have to follow any orders that were screamed at them or would obey any orders that were given after the ringing of a specific bell. Many people do not see them as anything more than a smarter robot and they tend to have to deal with prejudice.
There are 15 races to choose from. The choices are changelings, dwarves, elves, gnomes, gobliniods, half-elves, half-orcs, halflings, humans, kalasktars, orcs, pompups, shifters, teiflings, and warforges.
