Zhaviera Ravenlock
Zhaviera Ravenlock is one of the few remaining members of the elvish Clan Ravenlock. Born into the nobility of the clan, her family and most of her people perished during the first of the clan wars instigated by Clan Starbinder. Her father was an advisor to the clan's daimyo, while her best friend -- and to the best of anyone's knowledge, the only other noble of the clan still living -- was the daimyo's heir, his daughter, Tamada. When the war came and the clan was being wiped out, her father's last words to his daughter were to flee the Forest of Arduvei and begin a new life somewhere else.
Zhaviera has always done her best to heed this advice. Settling in the lakeside city of Sappho, she took up the work of a courtesan, at first simply to survive. Over time she found she had an excellent head for business and a genuine desire to enrich the lives of her clients beyond the mere provision of carnal pleasures. She opened her own brothel, The Sable Ribbon, in Sappho; it soon became, and remains, the most reputable establishment of its kind in the city. The Ribbon is known for a wide variety of entertainments, and almost as well known for the exceptional respect with which all its staff are treated.
Zhaviera recently opened a new brothel, The Sable Streamer, in the trade city of Seyatro. On the way to the new establishment, Zhaviera and the three employees she was bringing with her were attacked by bandits who turned out to be cultists of the ancient red dragon known as The Flames. Zhaviera escaped and sought help in Seyatro to rescue her staff. The adventurers who answered her call became loyal friends, and Zhaviera is considered by them as a trusted adviser and even a mother figure. At the suggestion of one of them, she is now preparing to open a third Sable establishment in the city of Lunagalth.
