Thieriustrai, one-time Matron of House Melndar in the one-time Lolth cultist city of Yaernkhabiugnoh, is a dark elven woman and priestess (first of Lolth and later Lolth's daughter Eilistraee).

There is evidence that a fey ambassador to the city hundreds of years in the past can be counted among Thieriustrai's ancestors, and it is perhaps this ancestor that passed the gift of sorcery to her first grandchild, who came to be known later as Kaystiglon.

When Kaystiglon's mother Inzarth, Thieriustrai's daughter-in-law, turned her son over to the ruling matrons of the city, to be vivisected, Thieriustrai kept any objections she had very much to herself. When the child escaped, leaving havoc in his wake, Thieriustrai used all her efforts to live down the scandal and protect her family.

Decades later, when word of Kaystiglon's exploits reached Yaernkhabiugnoh, Thieriustrai led efforts to attempt to find him and return him to the power of the matrons. When the actual confrontation happened, a change came over her. She acknowledged that she could no longer survive among the other matrons, but was not yet ready to die. She turned her back on the cult of Lolth, and over time came to lead a revolution that has freed Yaernkhabiugnoh from the clutches of the Spider Queen's cultists.

She now lives with her son, daughter-in-law, her grandson and his family in Kaystiglon's family home.
