Garthonel
Archfey, also known as Tiusog'gwayu, the Prince of Agonies.
Long ago, there was a prince of the Shadowfell, the greatest of the race of nightwalkers, Pitsurathka, the Bitter Shade. This master of dread and death one terrible day caught the eye of Morgan le Fay, greatest of archfey, one of the three sisters called the Rhai'cyntaf, the First Ones. The union of scions of Feywild and Shadowfell brought forth the archfey Tiusog'gwayu, whose name on the material planes is Garthonel. Upon his birth, his aunt Nimue prophesied the curse that he endured from that day to this: "You may feel joy in your time. But it will forever be pain and misery that sustain you."The prophecy of Nimue proved absolutely correct; throughout all of his existence, Garthonel derived physical sustenance and gained power through absorbing pain and suffering. Physical pain and torture were his meat and drink; emotional suffering and misery provided sweetening and power. Many of his mother's schemes and plans to cause chaos and misery on the material plane where she dwells were calculated to feed her son as he grew to adulthood. The wars between the elven clans of the Forest of Arduvei were, from the beginning, at Garthonel's instigation. The long period of peace took place during a time when Garthonel was consolidating his power within the Feywild, and ended when he grew tired of causing suffering there and decided to return to the place on the material plane where he had wrought such delicious havoc before. He favored traveling in the guise of beautiful carrion birds, especially the Asian magpie. Other fey beings could recognize his fey nature and origins, and to magic designed to detect fey beings, he was perceived as fey. He could also be perceived as undead by magic intended to detect them. He has been forever destroyed by a powerful group of adventurers who slew his body on the material plane, then pursued him to his home in the borderland between Feywild and Shadowfell, and slew him again there. His mother has shown no interest in avenging his death -- what his father thinks, remains a mystery.
