Dreamfasting
Dreamfasting is a bonding ritual performed by the followers of Sehanine , the goddess of dreams. It is frequently undertaken by couples as part of their wedding ceremony, but can also be undertaken by members of the clergy or monastic orders who wish to improve their own bonds and communication.
Participants in the ritual lie on couches within a temple of Sehanine, linking hands. When they sleep, they enter a shared dream, where they are given a task to perform. No one, aside from the goddess herself, knows before the dream begins what the task will be. Sehanine often uses the dreamfasting ritual to help others fulfill dreams that would otherwise be forever lost.
If participants feel they need help, they are permitted to call upon friends. If the call for help is made from within the dream, priests overseeing the ritual will hear, and guide the additional participants into the dream. When the participants have completed their task, they awaken. Sehanine's reward is the gift of being able to communicate with one another, mind-to-mind, invoked via a dreamfasting amulet presented to each participant.
A group of adventurers took part in a dreamfasting ritual which began as part of the wedding of Kaystiglon of House Melndar and Tanor Thenna. The bridal couple called upon the rest of the party for help and once within the dream, allowed a ghostly playwright to see his final work performed at last, thus allowing him to depart for the world beyond.
