Corundatropus
Corundatropus is a shadow dragon, once a sapphire dragon who dwelled in the Shadowfell for so long he took on many characteristics of that dread realm.
He was hatched in the Shadowfell and lived there under the influence of Pitsurathka, the Bitter Shade, for many hundreds of years, before being released to the material plane. His lair is in the forested mountain regions of southern Carpayth, and marks the northernmost section of a band of land that has been strongly under the influence of the Shadowfell for well over a hundred years, most likely due to the influence of Pitsurathka and his archfey son, Garthonel.
When a small group of young elves of the Clan Eight-Star found themselves in Corundatropus' domain after fleeing for their lives from a Clan Starbinder ambush, the shadow dragon saw an opportunity, and kept them alive (though in abject poverty) so they could work for him, mainly forging weapons for his collections. This state of things persisted until the end of the clan war, when a party of adventurers came to rescue the lost ones and bring them back to the clanhome. Following a tense negotiation, the dragon was convinced to let the elves go and even make a present of gold as they departed.
Though the party and the dragon did not part as friends, communication between them remains open, and there is every possibility Corundatropus could serve as an advisor or ally to them in the future.
