Warden of Kami

Warden of Kami

Rangers who follow the path of the Warden of the Kami forge sacred bonds with guardian spirits of nature, such as tengu, kodama, kitsune, and yamabiko. These spiritual companions serve as protectors, guides, and sources of mystical power, empowering the ranger to maintain balance and harmony within the wilds. By channeling the power of their bonded kami, these rangers can protect allies with divine barriers, strike down foes with spiritual force, and summon blessings that reflect the unique nature of their guardian spirits. Steeped in the ancient traditions of reverence and respect for nature's protectors, Wardens of the Kami walk a path that blends martial skill with spiritual strength.

    Kami Bond

At 3rd level you form a sacred bond with a guardian spirit of nature—a tengu, kodama, yamabiko, kitsune, or another kami of your choice. This bond grants you unique abilities and a spiritual connection that aids you in your journey.   Guardian Companion: Your bonded kami manifests in a form appropriate to its nature (e.g., a tengu spirit as a spectral bird, a kitsune as a fox spirit). The kami serves as your spiritual guide and can assist you in various ways:
  • Combat Assistance: Your kami can make a spectral attack as a bonus action. This attack uses your proficiency bonus and deals 1d6 + your Wisdom modifier in radiant, psychic, or force damage (your choice).
  • Spirit Aid: Once per short or long rest, your kami can grant you advantage on a skill check or saving throw by offering guidance.
  •

    Protective Ward

At 7th level you can channel the power of your kami to protect allies from harm.
  • Sacred Barrier: As a reaction when you or an ally within 30 feet is hit by an attack, your kami can create a spiritual barrier that reduces the damage by 1d10 + your Wisdom modifier. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
  • Harmony of the Wilds: While your kami is present, you and allies within 10 feet of you have advantage on saving throws against being frightened or charmed.
  •

    Spirit Manifestation

At 11th level your bond with your guardian spirit grows stronger, allowing you to channel its power directly into battle.   Spiritual Strike: When you take the Attack action, you can imbue one of your weapon attacks with spiritual energy. This attack deals an additional 2d8 radiant, psychic, or force damage and may impose a special effect based on your bonded kami:
  • Tengu: The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be blinded until the end of its next turn.
  • Kodama: The attack heals you or an ally within 30 feet for an amount equal to the damage dealt.
  • Kitsune: The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become charmed by you until the end of your next turn.
  • Yamabiko: The target must make a Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn.
  • You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once) per long rest.

    Kami's Blessing

At 15th level your kami imbues you with their power, granting you and your allies supernatural protection and aid.   Sacred Ground: As an action, you can create a 30-foot-radius aura centered on you for 1 minute. While within this area:
  • You and allies gain resistance to all damage from non-magical attacks.
  • Enemies within the aura have disadvantage on attack rolls against you and your allies.
  • Your bonded kami’s attacks deal an additional 2d8 damage.
  •   Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
