Personal history
When he was first learning magic, he was a serious perfectionist and required himself to master everything possible. However, when he did return home for a rare visit long after his father and brother died of the plague, he discovered that his mother was ill with pneumonia, after having worked herself to exhaustion to try and maintain their farm. Believing his skills enough, he tried to use his magic to heal her, but made a mistake that caused her death. Following this, he applied himself even more to his studies, but refused to master the art of healing.
After graduating, he took on a role as a teacher at the Aerlis Academy and studied on his own histories and the Prophecies of Aureus Carlisle, the immortal prophet. He helped inspire Tresha to study the same path; however, his push for perfection drove her away, and she abandoned the Academy to seek a position elsewhere. He blames himself for this and has since forced himself to be more patient with teaching and learning.
