Triton

The adaptive qualities of humanity never cease to amaze. As the waters rose and land started to sink under the pressure of growing void space, brave men and women dove into the depths searching for answers and solutions to keep what we had left above the waves. Day after day they dove, and by the time we noticed the changes, what could we have done? Why would we have changed it? They had become more, one with the waters and able to stay below to save us.

  While there is no unified understanding or belief about what exactly caused the first Triton to emerge, there are many theories about the combined affects of raging underwater volcanos and muted layers of void during a particular time where more and more of the land was disappearing under sea level. In the end no one quite cared, they were just glad for the emergence of this evolved branch of their people with the capacity to help them take space beneath the waves.   The name Triton is rumored to have come from ancient legends of underwater humanoids, another splinter of shared history with the main lands yet to be explained. Adopted as a better way of identifying the new kind of humanoid than the more abrasive terms that arose around the time, it has remained the favored term for them as a whole.   Triton like their fellow Keltrex native kin are rare to find off island, and to date none have managed to be able to stay on the mainland's long term. The deterioration of health is rapid and distinct, finding improvement only when returned within the confines of the isles. However, they have found themselves not only to be valuable to the upkeep of the isle underside but also in the export/import of wares through sea travel between Keltrex and other nations where gates are near the water. As well as in aquatic rescue missions of the unfortunate and unwise who venture into void tainted waters.
