Shifter

While most of the other kinds of people that exist have a reason, a science behind them, there is one that simply defies all attempts to determine their origins.   When travel to and from Keltrex was made available, the mystery around Shifters was only barely clarified. It became evident that these people were the ones that the myths spanning the globe about moon phase changing beasts were based on. They however proved in the majority to not quite be so feral and uncontrolled. Then more of them appeared across the continents, coming out of hiding since their long-lost brethren had been made known. As it turns out, they have simply always been here.   Oral tradition in Shifter community spoke of a global scale hunt that took nearly all of them off the continents of the earth. The ones left behind had no indication of where the others had gone until the revelation of the hidden islands. It seemed the mass hunt had rallied them and exiled them to Keltrex with the rest of the original Keltrexians prior to the isle being cut off from the world.   Shifters are still not a major population anywhere, but they are not entirely uncommon to see within many communities. Opinions of them vary based on who you ask and how much they still believe the old stories. Though some are more notably feared due to heavily animalistic features, while others are relatively passing with sharper teeth or longer nails or eyes of their appropriate heritage of beast.   Unlike what the myths say, Shifters cannot be made through bite. Shifters are purely born, usually through copulation with their own kind, or with another human. The type of Shifter that one is comes from their heritage or dominant heritage if the two shifters are of different beastial types.
