Some people don’t have the sense not to wander into the depths of the voidlands on the island. The deep dark strange place that mothers of Keltrex had told their children never to enter from the time they could understand and gangsters used to hide things that no one was desperate enough to go looking for. The voidlands change people beyond what anyone can reconcile. Once void, always void
You are considered fortunate if you returned as a Void, since the majority of people who enter never come back. And if they do, it is as something so vile and corrupted it is impossible to recognize as a person. And while the voidlands are entirely unpredictable in their ways, there are only three kinds of people it tends to spit back out as something close to human. Most the time a Void will not remember their time in the voidlands, though some do, and they would rather not speak on it. The things they’ve seen……..beyond the way it haunts them, who would believe them?
Lamprey (Dhampier)
Lamprey are those that came out of the voidlands with a new thirst for blood (Most usually, though some find an unnatural hunger for other stranger things). Their teeth made sharp, their hunger unending, their body not bound in the same way as everyone else to the laws of gravity. They no longer require breath, and their hearts no longer beat in their chests and yet….they live. Or….are they dead? Dubbed as Lamprey for the way they drain life from others, they are distinctive by their pale features and their lifeless nature when approached and touched. Often more akin to a corpse than a living person, they resemble the myths of old across the world of vampires...perhaps this is where it all began?
Shades (Hexblood)
Shades came out of the voidlands and lack the more violent and hungering nature of the Lamprey, but they’re hardly untouched. Their bodies mutated in far more visible ways, morphing and making them far more easily recognizable for what they are when they’re not using their strange void powers to hide their true visage. Some of their augments were changed, giving them a way to communicate with others that share those augs over distances (Eerie Token) that do not require the same signals and traceable technologies such as phones. They have also developed a neuro toxin that can be used in control and in harm to others (Hex). Named Shades for the way they travel in disguise and like a person’s shadow, a shade of who they once were.
*Note: Your creature type will remain humanoid rather than fey
Reapers (Reborn)
Reapers suffer the most from their time in the voidlands. These are the ones that ventured the deepest, and were most changed. They do not remember their time there. They don’t remember who they were before either. Sometimes they get a day dream, or something like a scent will trigger a sensation or what they think may be a memory, but often it does not stay. Their mind was broken in the Voidlands so completely by the horrors or maybe wonders beyond comprehension that they may never recover their identity before the void. Like their Leech brethren, they do not need to breathe. But they also don’t need to eat, drink, or sleep. Named reapers for their deathless nature in an almost affectionate reflection of the embodiment of death that claims all.

Incident Report #15
Drone flights continue to show that the structure identified as the "Niagara Gate" is no longer present and no crossings have been detected since the initial 71 hour event. Aasimar strike teams have reached the target location and are successfully engaging the biomechanical entities. However new developments have required us to reinforce and maintain the original perimeter.
Front line teams have reported 19 confirmed and 83 probable cases of compromised cyberware requiring termination of the afflicted units. Logistics reports no common systems or components across all cases. Post mortem scans are in progress to identify any unreported upgrades which could provide an infection vector.
Field reports describe a consistent pattern in the affected units; paranoid delusions and complaints of hunger which develop into compulsive cannibalism within 4 hours. Personnel have dubbed the behavior "wendigo psychosis"
Despite the insistence of our counterparts in SIGINT, retrieved field samples confirm there have __not__ been any firewall alerts of access attempts to the affected systems.
As per our previous report; we must quarantine the Niagara strike teams until we can identify a vector. Current rotations will make containment impossible after 06:00 May 18.
