Half-Dragon
Half-Dragons were the offspring of a Dragon that had taken on another, more Humanoid, form. They would wander the realms in search of knowledge, and sometimes treasures. On their journeys they would eventually find a mate. Sometimes they would spend a lifetime with this mate. Others they might only spend a night or two and then continue on their way. Because Dragonkind, and Humanoids don't usually mix well, in terms of offspring, it was rare that a female Humanoid would become pregnant with a Dragonkind offspring. On the rare occasion that they did, it usually did not end well for the mother. The opposite, however, is true for the female Dragonkind that walked around in Humanoid form. It was still rare for them to get pregnant, but they were far better suited to give birth to the offspring than the Humanoid mothers.
The difference between the Humanoid parentage and Dragonknid parentage is that the Humanoids would usually shun the Half-Dragon children, where the Dragonkind parentage would raise them as their own.
These Half-Dragons were highly revered and used as guardians of the Dragon's dens and cities. It wasn't uncommon to find several Half-Dragons walking around the Dragon cities as regular citizens.
The Half-Dragons were also known for their fierce battle prowess. Being Half-Dragon and half Humanoid gave them a few benefits of each parent, as well as some of the downfalls. The most noticeable benefits are the dragon skin and scales, as well as the color of the parent dragon, some even get the wings of their Dragon parentage. (These Half-Dragons were even more highly revered, as they were far less common than the rare Half-Dragons.) They also gain the benefit of having the parent Dragon's breath weapon. Some of the less noticeable benefits are the Blindsight and Darkvision that they get. All Half-Dragons though receive the same downfalls from their Dragon parent; greed, arrogance, and paranoia. Their Humanoid half, usually goes a good way to make these a little more subtle, depending of course on the Humanoid parentage. Orcs, Goblins, and other such Humanoids tend to magnify these traits. Where Humans, Elves, and Dwarves, tend to subdue them a bit.
