The Royal College of Nurem

The Royal College is one of the major landmarks of Nurem. Its three imposing towers rise up beside the hill on which The Baston sits, and in each tower, some strange manner of magic is undoubtably happening. The city's residents do, afterall, see the unearthly flashes from its windows at night.   The College was built by the order of Duke Jerrod III in 912 of the Age of Restoration. As magic users increasingly fell under persecution, the good Duke saved the fleeing mages of Pallas by building the College as a refuge, for he had long been rumoured to be a wielder of the arcane himself. In recompense, the residents of the building who would later found the Guild of Arcani swore service to him and his descendents for life. This continued into the founding of the Kingdom of Pallas, until its eventual collapse five years ago, in 1240.   The towers of the College have uninspiring names, but each serve an important purpose for the Guild. The Hill Tower (closest to the Baston) contains the Faculty of Sorcery. The Gate Tower (closest to the gatehouse) contains the Faculty of Wizardry. The North Tower is home of the guild itself, and the High Circle of Mages.
