The Farmlands

The Farmlands is a small region of Pallas to the south of Nurem. It is a region of intense agriculture, where fields, barns, windmills and paddocks stretch across fifty miles of hills and grassland. The Farmlands and the commonfolk who call it home have provided food for Nurem - and all of Pallas after Unification and before the Great War - since before the Age of Darkness.   Today, the Farmlands faces an uncertain future. Harringate and its steward Lord Harring swears fealty to the Four Lords of Nurem, but there are many more players than there were before the war. Sardoron regards Nurem and its breadbasket with hungry eyes, as does Libertia, which seeks to tighten its control on Pallas by controlling its resources; if not just to feed its growing garrison at Castle Saffron.   The rise of gangs in the refugee slums of Nurem have led to some gangs pressuring some of the commonfolk in the nearby Farmlands into secretly growing the plant used to make the drug Oddra, which is rising in popularity in Nurem's Small District.
