King Henrik I
Tarrance Henrik Lancelot Aster, known by his regal name Henrik I, is the self proclaimed King of Pallas at the age of 18. The collapse of the kingdom at the end of the Great War meant that with the instability of succession, there was soon no throne to succeed to, as Libertia and Kyotai began their short-lived occupation of Pallatian cities. As a first cousin of the childless King Ethar, Henrik was eligible for the throne, but he quickly found himself running for his life - along with his closest retainers and his mother - from rivals in the succession attempting to end his life.
The experiences Henrik went through would have been little more than traumatic as for four years, he lived a life in exile; the details of which remain hidden. It was in 1244 that he made his return to Sardoron: claiming that lordship over the city was his by birthright. Knight Paramount Verrol, who alongside the Stormsjager maintained control of the city, declared him a usurper. Henrik found allies in the city, and a period of battle with the old guard of the kingdom took place over the course of a week.
The Stormsjager and their leader Verrol were, however, led into a trap by secret supporters of Henrik, and were consequently massacred. The survivors fled into the Kings' Wood, and have continued a guerilla war against the new ruler of Sardoron from hidden bases amongst the trees.
King Henrik I is a bitter ruler. It seems logical that he has been shaped and traumatised from the attempts on his life in his early teens - now a vengeful personality possesses him. He is zealous in his intent to restore and reunite the kingdom under his banner, and already calls the surviving lords of the lands around Sardoron to swear alleigance to the new King of Pallas. Many lords of the surrounding old kingdom of Corvia were quick to swear their swords to the new king of Pallas, but most lords have continued to withhold from making a choice in fealty when the fate of Pallas hangs in the balance.
